Chapter 33 The prototype

Because of the difficulty of fighting against the Rockets, Fitch became more and more harsh in the next day's training.

He made the players miserable, and something magical happened.

The Celtic chemistry was inspired by a shared desire to win and a shared disgust for tough coaches.

Next, the Celtics fought with Fitch's former team, the Cleveland Cavaliers.

In the two games, the Celtics scored 136 points and 127 points respectively, and Bird got into the state.

He began to become the leader of the team.

In another offensive battle, the Celtics were defeated by the Pacers.

Pacers' substitute power forward Mickey Johnson made great contributions in this game.

He broke out from the substitute and showed his versatile inside offense. Coins could not defend him at all. This former MVP is really declining now.

During this period, Louis suggested that Ranbill be dealing with Johnson.

But Ranbill's casual attitude was disliked by Fitch. He would rather let other players who had proved that they could not prevent their form from being abused on the court than give Ranbill a chance.

Although the team's style of play did not go as Louis expected, they still scored an 11-2 start.

The reason why Louis was not satisfied with the Celtic performance during this period was that Bird's instant combat power was not maximized.

Fitch seemed to have no idea how to get Bird to specialize in his strengths, because he could do anything.

Also, Fitch fixed Bird at the third position, thanks to the fact that there are not many modern forwards with fast athletic capabilities in the current league, otherwise Bird's defense will face severe tests.

In the first 13 games so far, Bird averaged 18.8 points, 8.9 rebounds and 4 assists per game. This is certainly a gratifying performance, but Louis feels that if you play normally, there should be more than this number.

So Louis wanted to repeat the machine to suggest Fitchdo to hit Bird more than once, and let Bird do the ball. For this reason, he creatively took out a data called "Plane Holding Time".

Data shows that Bird's ball holding time can only rank third in the starting lineup.

For this data, Louis spent several days and nights to record the video. Later, he couldn't handle it alone and asked others to record the player's ball holding time with him. Only then did he come up with a very simple "ball holding time" data.

Fans in the 21st century are not surprised by this kind of data. Both Paul and James have been cited by fans as a result of not holding the ball for a long time, which is a false impression that "these two people stick to the ball for a long time" is that they are the ball dominant.

And Louis is doing this now just to get Bird to get some more balls.

Fitch is a stereotypical and tough conservative. When the Celtics have a good record, he doesn't want to make changes.

On November 11, 1979, in a very meaningful battle, the Celtics played against the 76ers.

The Celtics' rebirth faced the Philadelphia 76ers at the peak. This game was hailed as a preview of the Eastern Conference finals, and the two teams ranked in the top two in the Eastern Conference respectively.

In their respective teams, there are such loud names as Bird, Dr. J, Dawkins, Maxwell, Coins, Bobby Jones, and Doug Collins, but CBS did not broadcast the game live.

The doctor did not show mercy to the young birds, and he seemed to want to establish his authority in front of the future star.

Looking at the Doctor, Louis seemed to be watching another version of Moses Malone, or, a reduced version of the Greek Monster.

He knows everything, and his style of playing is amazing. He completed a one-handed continuous pull-rod that almost made Louis dizzy in the third quarter... But he can't think that he is the most powerful player ever because he knows such a skill in Qimen Dunjia.

Like Malone and Greek monsters, he is a qualified cornerstone for team building, but neither of them has reliable means of attacking.

What surprised Louis the most was that he saw Morris Chicks in the 76ers.

Isn't he in the Clippers? Why did he go to Philadelphia?

But when he linked Chicks to Philadelphia, he knew why the name Chicks seemed familiar.

After Chicks retired, he worked as a coach for the 76ers, and Iverson was traded to the Nuggets during his tenure.

Now, he knows the source of his impression of Chicks, but he doesn't know why Chicks returned to Philadelphia. But considering that the Clippers didn't want Bird's signing rights at the time, it's not worth surpriseing that this cheating team did anything.

Cheeks' performance in Philadelphia proves Louis' vision.

As a substitute, averaging 11 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2.1 steals per game. How could this be a substitute? This is the bandit on the bench!

Tonight, the 76ers destroyed Boston with their athletic talent.

Even if the Doctor made 14 of 34 shots, the inside advantage is still an important factor in winning the game by the Phillies.

"Chocolate Bomb" Dalil Dawkins abused the basket many times, and Chicks' defense made every Celtic defender very embarrassed. For a while, they had to let Bird dribble through the half.

In this battle, the doctor defeated Bird in data.

"He is very outstanding!" The doctor was so elegant today. He was so energetic when he swung his fist to greet Bird's face one day in the future. "I mean, Boston dug a diamond."

Next, they met the Pistons with 5-10 losses.

This tragic team can't see hope, and their first-round picks for the next two years are in the hands of the Celtics.

Dick Vitale, who caused this result, was kicked out by the late-minded management after leading the team to a record of 4 wins and 8 losses.

This is a backhand that cannot produce any effect. If they cannot strengthen through the offseason, they will be able to play in the worst lineup in the league for two seasons, and give the Celtics, currently ranked second in the East, a 50% chance of winning the No. 1 pick and 100% of the top two in two consecutive years.

This is no longer a mistake in operation, it is a crime against other teams in the league.

Although the content of the game is not as Louis thought, he is not the head coach and cannot decide how the team plays.

During this period, he read a lot of coaches' works.

It's basically about how to succeed, but is this something teachable?

If this could be taught, Bill Russell, Jordan, Isaiah Thomas and others would not suffer repeated setbacks in management operations after retirement.

Instead of giving Fitch frequently advice to make him sick, it is better to shut up and concentrate on studying.

He noticed that several teams in the league played fast-paced offenses, such as the San Antonio Spurs, who ranked first in scoring per game.

They averaged 119 points per game under the leadership of crazy coach Doug Moe.

Their game left Louis confused, his tactics were varied, and his playing style was random. Everyone made a decision in two seconds when they got the ball, either shooting or passing the ball.

The Spurs have no fixed tactics.

Coach Mo has also been telling the media that they have no tactics at all.

He is a rebellious guy, not favored by conservative coaches, the media just finds him interesting.

After Louis carefully studied the Spurs' playing style, he found that No one might have lie.

The Spurs really have no tactics.

Considering that they can still score 50% of the winning rate without tactics and everyone is happy, Doug Mo never takes credit for himself.

This person is not simple.

Louis left such an impression on Mo in his heart, and then the Los Angeles Lakers who averaged second in scoring.

Unlike the messy and fluent offense like the Spurs, the Lakers' style of playing is a typical fast attack team.

This is the style that their new boss, Jerry Bass, likes, is gorgeous, fast-paced, wonderful and beautiful.

This style was established by Jack McKinney, who led the team to a record of 10 wins and 4 losses and was in a car accident. Paul Westhead took over his coaching job, and was basically Xiao Gui and Cao Sui.

McKinney turned out that he would fight as much as he would, and the more he would fight, the better he would get.

Louis likes the Lakers' unrestrained style of play, but this team has several hidden worries.

Kareem is a time bomb, but the magician's smile has the potential to heal him.

The Magician had to share the ball rights with Norm Nixon PG. He is currently a rookie and can still endure it. How can he be willing to do so if he goes on for a long time? Every point guard is a mad dog who protects food. Whoever wants to grab their ball will go crazy.

Louis looked around and simply wrote down scout reports from several strong teams.

But this is written more for himself.

If he wants to coach in the future, what kind of team he hopes to build?

What is certain is that the team he wants is not a rigid running tactic under Bill Fitch's rule. Almost everyone is depressed, and he cannot let Bird, a monster with infinite possibilities, release energy to the fullest.

But he was also exploring how to fight.

The only advice he can give is to give the ball to Bird.

Coaching is really not a simple science. If you have good players, you may be able to win the game by playing simple tactics. If you don’t have good players and need a certain degree of record guarantee, it will be a very test of your coaching skills.

In Louis's heart, he had a prototype.

But he still needs a lot of expertise.
