The metal boots were clanging, and the noisy sound echoed in the water prison.

The alchemist barely raised his head and looked in the direction where the fire and shadows kept flashing. Who was coming? Was he the tyrant who was going to behead them, or was he arrogant and rude to take them to the red robe on the execution ground? Or... the prisoner's words came, and the person was Yahan, the leader of the guard. The moment before the puzzle was revealed, he was so nervous that he shivered all over.

The black shadow was getting closer and closer. When Leo saw the other person's face, he completely relaxed. The person who came was the prince's captain of the guard. Unfortunately, his face was rigid and without a trace of smile, as if he was wearing a cold steel mask.

"I'm glad to see you again." His throat seemed to be burning with fire. It must be swelling and inflamed, he thought. His voice became more and more low and hoarse, and it was almost inaudible.

The captain of the guard glanced at them coldly and said nothing. He waved his hand to signal the one-eyed jailer to open the prison door.

This sound was so wonderful in his ears at this moment.

They should leave. But he was already exhausted, hunger and thirst were sucking his strength, and his will made him feel extremely difficult and shaky just standing. Moreover, there was Rosie who was unconscious in his arms. Her soft and hot body seemed to be heavier than a mountain that could not be climbed. He moved a few steps with difficulty, and tried several times but could not carry her out of the pool.

Leo hated weakness, especially his own weakness, which made him feel guilty and made him angry. But he didn't even have a place to vent. He had to ask others for help.

The captain of the guard took a hand and dragged the female mage out of the water prison. During the whole process, she neither struggled nor resisted. She only had a few unconscious and subtle moans from her throat. He felt a cramp in his heart.

"Can you still go by yourself?"

Leo shook the hand of the captain of the guard. He climbed out of the water prison and was shaking at the edge of the water. "Leave here, we want to leave here. We want fire, clean clothes, and doctors."

"There are food and water." The captain of the guard interrupted him, "all ready."

The things that were usually available now have to be exchanged for an imposed injustice. He couldn't help but smile bitterly in his heart. He hugged Rosie and stumbled back along the road that he came in many days ago. The dungeon was dark and dark, tall and slippery. He had to try his best every step he took. He wanted to give up every step he took, and just lay on the ground and slept for a good night.

Another step. He was panting.

The jailer stopped and turned his head to look around. Under the torch, his one-eyed one-eyed laughed at him, and there was malice in his eyes. The captain of the guard didn't say a word behind him, as if it didn't exist. He felt dizzy, he was head-heavy. He was about to fall down. I couldn't climb up, and he finally admitted to himself. He had to swallow all his self-esteem, let the captain of the guard hold Rosie, and let the one-eyed jailer support him. Fortunately, no one appeared here, no one saw it, no one laughed loudly. Only someone would spread the weakness of the white devil.

Above the water prison was a spacious cell, with the light of the flames and candles bright and dazzling. Leo narrowed his eyes in a conditioned manner. It had been too long since he felt such a strong light, and for him, it seemed like a century had passed.

The one-eyed jailer helped him to a cell, and he stopped to find the key. "This is your new home, the white devil." The jailer opened an iron door for him. There was everything he saw in a hurry last time: a large bed covered with dried seaweed, a plate of chess pieces and a few books on the bedside table, and even a luxurious wine cabinet. Of course, there was also an indispensable bathtub in the cell, which was filled with hot water... When he saw it, he felt itchy all over and wanted to jump in immediately.

"Are you satisfied?" the jailer asked with a smile.

Of course there will be no negative answer. As for a prison room that is about to be tried, he really can't ask for more. But... "Where is Rosie?" He resisted his physical fatigue and tried his best to resist the call of hot water and red wine to him. "How do you plan to settle her? Where is the old woman? Why is she not there?"

"She will be placed under house arrest in the attic like other ladies." The captain of the guard replied, "The old woman is already waiting there."

Li Ou believed that Lu Yuewu and the Bachelor's Miss would take good care of her. "You'd better not play tricks. Otherwise..." He made harsh words meaninglessly. His voice was weak and almost unconvincing.

"If you are not at ease, then go back to the water prison." The captain of the guard said coldly.

The alchemist stopped talking. He touched Rosie's face with a sickly red tide, leaned over to her forehead and kissed her gently, "Please, Mr. Yahan." He said solemnly in the eyes of the other person.

It seemed as if she had a premonition of parting. Rosie struggled to wake up from the scorching cold flames of hell. Her confused eyes swept around and finally stopped on Leo. "Leo, what... is going on?" She asked weakly and uneasy.

"The prince agreed to treat you. So, go out with the captain and you will be well soon."

She moved her body, but the captain of the guard hugged her tightly so that she would not fall. She used her last bit of strength to stretch out a hand to him, and Leo held her. "What about... what about you?" Her eyes were half closed and half open, and she spoke as if muttering.

"I? I'll be out soon." During the trial. "Go to sleep, have a good night's sleep."

She was confused and let the captain of the guards take her out of the dungeon. Their backs were round the corner, and the sound gradually faded away, leaving him alone in the end. This time, he was the only one who was really the only one. But he had no regrets. He had tried his best to turn the situation around, which was the limit he could do.

It is better to die alone than to have another person to bury him. Li Ou sighed and barely crawled into the foam-like bathtub. The comfortable hot water made him sigh with satisfaction. In an instant, it seemed that all worries and sorrows were dissipated. Exhaustion soon surged, and sleepiness immediately occupied his brain. In the next moment, he was already asleep.

When he woke up, the water in the bathtub was already cold. He climbed out of the bathtub with difficulty and found that at some point someone had brought food. A bowl of light fish porridge and a piece of crispy bread were placed on the cabinet. His stomach was cheering. He changed into the rough prisoner's suit folded as quickly as possible and put the cold food into his mouth. He now had a disheveled hair and a beard, looking like a beggar on the street. After sweeping the food in the plate, fatigue came again and again. Apart from eating and drinking, he only had sleep in his mind. He forgot to think, forget Rosie, and forget Lu Yuewu and Miss Bachelor. He now needs to have a good sleep to face the upcoming trial.

However, during the brief period of waking up, he did not see anyone, and no one informed him when the trial would come. Even if the poison and sword needed for secret judgment were decided, he did not wait. So he had to continue to choose to sleep while waiting. He didn't know how long he had been sleeping. When he took another shower, one day when he woke up, a guest finally came to visit.

Following the one-eyed jailer was a mysterious guy wearing a hood and a cloak in Liesha.

"Open the door." Li Ou heard his voice.

After the one-eyed jailer left quietly, the visitor took off his hood, and he was Prince Oberon.

The prince approached the cell, took off his cloak and threw it on the bed, and he brought a chair by himself and sat down opposite the alchemist who was bored to play with the chess pieces. The cell, no, there were probably only the two of them in the entire dungeon. The captain of the guard might be guarding the entrance of the stairs.

"I didn't expect you to come to visit a wizard whom you call the White Devil," he snorted coldly, "Do I feel honored to bow to you three times and nine times?"

"No need, you are not my subject." The prince stood up and took out a bottle of red wine from the wine cabinet, took out another cup, filled it for himself, and poured it on for Leo. "I came here and felt it was necessary to listen to the words of the dying person."

Li Ou tightened the king's chess piece in his hand. "Aren't you worried that I will hurt you?"

"You won't." The prince stared at his right hand. "Although you really want to do this, you still want to kill me. But you won't do this. You know the current situation more clearly than anyone else. Now I take the initiative."

Yes, each of them was under the prince's house arrest. The crossbow arrows must be aimed at them at all times, and the poison was placed on the cook's right hand, reaching out to get it. "How is Rosie? I know your mouse knows every move in the attic."

"At least she slept better than you."

"Is that?" he muttered silently, suddenly speechless.

The prince took a sip of red wine and put down his cup. "Tell me. People all say, 'When a man is about to die, his words are good.' I want to hear your truth and lies."

"True? Lie?" Li Ou just wanted to laugh. He pulled the corner of his mouth and finally held back. "Is there any difference? Who would believe it? Even if I told a nice lie and an ugly fact, it would be of little use?"

"Nothing is different." The prince didn't need to lie. "But I want to hear, what you said."

There is basically nothing to say. "The truth is that I did nothing, and the lies are that I have ill-behaved." Li Ou sneered, "If I really want to do that, I will not be so stupid. It is easy for people to see that we are the murderers."

"I understand, someone framed it."

He must have known this a long time ago. But he is not a judge, he is the king. "I can't think of anything else other than that. But I don't know who it is." He did not expect any of the other party.

As expected, "No need to know." The prince said, "Your crime has been confirmed. Your sins are unforgivable."

"Then why do you forgive Rosie?"

He was very happy to see the anger in the prince's eyes. But this time he missed the plan. In this round of competition, it was Li Ou himself who tasted the anger first.

"I will let her go even if you don't ask for this." The prince looked at him and told him clearly, "My magic consultant told me that although her magic was taboo and dangerous, there was nothing wrong with it."

The prince's words seemed like a big drum that exploded in his ears, and also like a bolt from the blue. He was stunned for a moment, and then stood up. "She is about to die, and you are still watching the show!" He roared loudly, "Is it true that if I didn't make a choice that satisfies you, she would die in my arms?"

The prince did not deny it.

"So, alchemist, books are books, reality is reality. You still don't understand those in power."

The response to the prince was the glass of wine that was poured on his face.

"Our conversation is over." The prince stood up with solemn dignity, and the red wine flowed through his chin and dripped from his shortened beard. "You should be glad that I understand your reckless actions, so I will not act against you, nor will I vent your anger on your companions."

“I won’t be grateful for this.”

"I don't need the gratitude of the dead, it will only make me unable to sleep. For the king, hating others is the best weapon to rule over the subordinates. You'd better understand this." The prince stuck out his tongue and licked the wine at the corner of his mouth. "Tomorrow, take a good bath, change into a clean clothes, and eat full, and the judgment is waiting for you." He walked out of the cell, "As you wish, what awaits you will be a fair and just public trial."
