Chapter 32 The Road to Survival
If you have something to do tomorrow, you will take a day off.
Today I will offer 4k.
They walked in the passage built by spells, with pure blue light surrounding them. In front of them were the vortex of expansion, and on the left were magic runes cruising around like duckweed and flowing with magic power. The deep tunnel continued to extend, as if there was no end.
The narrow passage could not go side by side, and they lined up in a row. Lu Yuewu was at the front of the team, Rosie and Alisa were walking in the middle, Leo and Brand admonished, and Andrewson happened to be between Deka and them. This formation made them both worry about each other, but Leo also happened to monitor Andrewson's every move. Leo originally thought that he would stay in place to show his self-esteem. Now it seems that he is too overestimating the other party. Everyone is greedy for life and death, let alone greedy people.
"Where will be in front?" Alisa couldn't help asking.
The only mage among them shook her head in frustration, signaling her to have no clues. "I can't understand these runes. They belong to the mage's secret texts from another period, and only they know their meaning."
Leo could not recognize them either. The secret words were like the rainbow in the sky, visible but intangible. They could only follow the path opened by their predecessors. As for what the end was, they didn't know. Is it the magma at the bottom of the volcano, or the cliffs that were ten thousand feet high? But this was their only way to survive, and there was no choice.
There was no sound of wind in the passage, only the faint buzzing sound of the magic circle was operating. But Li Ou could not tell whether this was his auditory hallucination. The narrowness and depression made the team quickly silent, but the uneasiness spread like a virus. The flashing blue light seemed to have magic power, making them drowsy and vague.
In the dizziness, Li Ou seemed to hear a scream. When he raised his head, he found that the person walking in front of the team was gone, and Andrewson, who was in front of him, was suddenly rolled up, struggling to plunge into the vortex at the end. His slow brain felt that his body had lost control before he made a judgment, floating up as if he had lost weight, and followed Andrewson and was rudely thrown in.
He fell to the ground and hit his head hard. The pain woke his mind. He touched his head and struggled to get up, finding that he was in another place. There was a straight stone road under his feet, and there were hard stone walls on both sides. Behind him was also a stone wall, but Brand was falling out of it.
Leo stopped him. But he shook Leo's hand away and looked around, "Where is this?" he asked.
"Who knows." Leo shrugged, "It's not worse than being trapped in the temple anyway."
This is a tower, they climbed up along the spiral stairs. The walls on both sides were airtight, and only a few magic lights that seemed to never-ending shine on the wall, stretching their shadows, like ghosts.
"This should be the Tower of the Mages," said Rosie. "I can almost feel the essence of the magic power is around me."
Leo also sensed it. It was the most original magic power, different from the elemental system of today's mages. They were like a breeze, swirling around them, laughing briskly and joyfully. It was completely different from their tired and dusty faces. And just after a closed door, the source of magic power buzzed, like a crowded and noisy hive.
"Don't touch it first." Rosie stopped Lu Yuewu, "It's not too much to be careful in the wizard's territory." She said as she casts spells. She sprinkles a small pinch of silver-white powder on the oak door, and then she chants the spell until the silver powder bursts out a brief but dazzling white light and burns it all. "No problem." She said, "No trap. Safe."
The room at the top of the tower was extremely open, like a different dimension opened by a mage. A ball of light that emitted moderate glory hung above his head, like a small sun. Leo felt that they could even transplant flowers and plants here and turn it into a fragrant garden. But there was no gurgling water in the room, nor was there moist black soil. There was only cold white stone slabs, several empty bookshelves distributed in fan shapes next to the wall, and...the items they fancied when they started their trip-
A scroll of golden light - Orisdu's Alchemy. Leo recognized it, and he had one of them in his family.
It floated in the air without support, as if the living life was breathing slightly. Below it is a light and dark magic array, with runes flashing and shining on every greedy face. Although I don’t know what the scroll records, it is undoubtedly the treasure that everyone dreams of. However, they are suspicious of each other, fear each other, and are wary of their opponents’ every move, and no one is willing to take a step forward first.
Brand and his companions exchanged glances. Deka flew out, Lu Yuewu then stretched out his hand, and Andrewson fell among the three of them at the end. Leo did not move. His side was the strongest, and if there were no accidents, it would definitely fall into their hands. To control and eliminate all accidents, Leo thought. He spent most of his energy on staring at Brand beside him.
Deka's thin body was as quick and slippery as if it were a ball of fish, but he still grabbed a blank space - Lu Yuewu's sword was crossed in front of him, and he had to avoid it. Andrewson could not catch Lu Yuewu's arm. The wild boar could not defeat the lone wolf. This is a well-known rule. But the greedy wild boar in front of him not only had fangs, but also cunningly replaced the fur with spikes. Andrewson ran out a handful of powder, and the tiny particles collided with each other, and burst out with strong light in an instant.
It was flash dust! Li Ou's eyes were briefly blind. He would grab the scroll, where could he escape? The room was so big... Li Ou's brain was running rapidly. If he had a brain, he would definitely not only focus on immediate interests and ignore the danger of the sharp blade coming. There was only one choice in front of him: kill them and eat treasures alone. He held the sword tightly, and the magic seal was ready to go.
However, the first thing he heard was not the ruthless whistling of Andrewson at him - logically, he was the enemy of the other party and the object of removal - but Rosie's muffled groan, followed by Alissa's scream.
When the sting in his eyes slowed down, Leo opened his eyes eagerly. Through the cover of tears, he saw Rosie covering her arms. Her leather armor was torn fiercely, and a piece of skin was bitten away. The blood soon dyed her whole arm red, and the bright red was like her long hair and the anger in her eyes. Several dazzling reds seemed to gather in Leo's eyes, turning the mage into a burning flame.
"Give it to me." Andrewson's dagger was placed on Alisa's snow-white neck, and a drop of blood slid down the blade. A piece of staff was inserted into his arm, which belonged to Rosie. "Hurry up, Miss!" He urged Lu Yuewu, "Give it to me." Lu Yuewu looked at Leo. "Now you should listen to my orders, not him!"
Pain can make people rational and also make people crazy. Li Ou looked at the muscles on his face entangled with each other, and looked extremely ugly, thinking that he must belong to the latter. He nodded to Lu Yuewu.
"Brand," he ordered the black-haired boy who was also a member of the thousand-faced man, "pull off your shirt and wrap it around his hand." He was extremely alert, and Leo frowned, fearing the ropes after being bitten by a snake for ten years. "I don't want to capsize in the same gutter."
Lu Yuewu took off the scroll, and the golden light suddenly contracted, and a little more restrained.
"Stand there." Andrewson's dagger was a little hard, and a drop of blood fell to the ground. Alisa's face was pale, with tears in her eyes, and she forced herself to hold back without saying a word. It was not until Brand wrapped the cloth strip around Leo's hand that he continued to order, "Dicha, go, take the scroll and hand it to me."
Deka looked at Brand, with a gloomy face, and remained motionless.
"I said, bring the scroll!" Andrewson roared, "Don't forget that you are just an errand runner in the Thousand-Faced Hands. You have to obey my orders! Instead of looking at your damn companion!"
"You are just enjoying the shelter of your father." Leo said with a sneer, "and there are only three of you here, why do you order them? What can you promise them? Wealth or status?"
"Shut up! I should seal your mouth!" Andrewson shouted angrily, "Silly Pig, bring it!"
Brand shrugged Deka with a gloomy face.
Deka held her anger and took the scroll from Lu Yuewu's hand. "Lee Ou, you snatched the thing that belonged to me, it was mine." He said, "But this time, you can't take it away. And I want to snatch everything from you."
Li Ou said nothing.
"Two ladies, why are you willing to take on his guard?" He was a little proud. "Follow me, I will give you more rewards."
"Okay, return the staff to me, and then give me a thousand Oren to treat my injuries." Her arm had stopped bleeding, and the magic was slowly healing the wound. But she still made a buzz when she blackmailed her. "I'll consider it," she said.
"I am loyal to the Lord." Lu Yuewu was shorter.
"Then you guys die here."
He waved his dagger, thinking in his heart how to make Brand's hands stained with blood. "You will die here too." Leo said calmly, "You can't find a way out, what's the use of getting everything? You killed me, but you died even worse than me. Loss of water, hunger, loneliness. I'm waiting for them torture you to the point of madness."
"You reminded me." Andrewson suddenly showed a sinister smile, "I plan to save your life and torture slowly. With three beautiful ladies, there is also an opponent who can torture him, drink his blood, eat his flesh and internal organs. Even if I die, I am satisfied."
Alisa couldn't see Andrewson's expression of his tongue sweeping across her lips. But just listening to his words made her vomit. He was telling the truth. Leo realized that if the situation had gone like this, he would really do so.
"Why don't you talk?" Andrewson smiled proudly, "You are scared, Leo. I said, you are just a coward and never dares to look at death directly."
He was talking about himself. "I'm just thinking..." A smile appeared on the corner of Leo's mouth.
"What are you thinking about? I am very leisurely and willing to listen to your eloquence."
"You forgot that we have two friends." Leo looked at Brand and Deka, "I only have one head, two hands, and two legs... How should you distribute it? Which part do they want to enjoy? Or..." Leo's smile became brighter, "They are also your Chinese food?"
"Enough!" Andrewson realized that something was wrong, but it was too late. Brand's face became more and more gloomy, and Deka stared at him without any concealing hatred. "How do you arrange it?" "I, I..." He opened his mouth, but had no way to refute.
"He died. He died in the black dawn." Li Ou added another fire. A flawless lie. He said to himself.
"Shut up, shut up!" he shouted.
If he hadn't needed Alisa as a hostage, he was afraid he had rushed over.
Brand approached Andrewson, and the outshelf dagger reflected a miserable green light. The blade soaked in venom seemed to be scattering its teeth and claws, and it could not wait.
However, behind them suddenly buzzed, so clear that it seemed that the mechanism was beginning to operate. The magic circle supporting the scroll seemed to have accumulated enough magic power and gradually shone. It soon became dazzling, and the milky white halo turned into a door lintel, and then extended the door frame and suddenly appeared in front of them.
Portal? Leo's heart suddenly tightened.
Crossing that door is for life, and staying here is death.
His eyes and the girls intertwined, and then turned to Alisa. Her tears kept falling like broken pearls. He couldn't make up his mind. I was not cruel at all. He thought to himself, it would be better if he was selfish.
"Can't I escape?" Andrewson laughed proudly in his ears. "It seems that the God of Death is not me." He said, "Lee Ou, there is no way out." He urged Alisa to slowly move towards the magic circle. The dagger firmly pressed against Alisa's neck, and the tip pierced into the skin, and blood gushed out. But he didn't care. He made Leo and the others unable to act rashly.
They are afraid of being helpless and powerless, but they do not mean everyone.
Brand rushed forward with a quick step, and the dagger struck Elisa's waist and stabbed into his back. Blood was like a spring, and blood was as color as ink. Toxins quickly numbed his body. The dagger in his hand slipped down weakly, but it also left a terrible wound on Elisa's neck. The two of them fell to the ground together.
"How dare you...How dare..." Andrewson's words are no longer complete. "My...my father..."
"It was not me who killed you, it was the black dawn." Brand said, "and, 'I would rather be the head of a chicken than the tail of a phoenix'. If you kill you, will I replace you? I can also give orders, although those who will command are all idiots like you."
Andrewson opened his mouth, his pupils quickly became invaded by ink, and his hands drooped.
"No matter how much hatred a dead person is, he can't be resurrected." Brand said in his resentful eyes. He pulled out his dagger, wiped it clean on Andrewson's clothes, and then stuffed it back into the scabbard. He picked up the scroll that landed beside him and threw it to Leo without hesitation. "It's yours."
Leo looked at him in surprise, "Why?"
"We're cleared up," he said, "I won't owe you anything again."
Although he said he would not be grateful for saving one of him, he cared about it very much.
Leo nodded, "We didn't get anything." He said to Brand, "We just escaped."
"We're not that stupid." Dika, who was standing beside him, nodded.
"Don't say anything when you go back." Leo told Alisa, "We have never met them."
Alisa's neck was wrapped around her cloth, and blood oozed out. She looked at Li Ou with a pale face and nodded gently. Then, Lu Yuewu picked her up. They jumped into the portal.
