Chapter 30 The Ghost Eddy
"It's right in front, it's right in front." "The clown" muttered all the way.
He was panting, sweating all over, and his face was pale. But he seemed to be possessed, staring ahead, indifferent to everything around him, and his steps were not stopped. And the deeper he went, the more he became, the more confused Alan Hurt was. He even ran desperately. His fat figure was like a rolling ball, but no one felt ridiculous.
Li Ou felt a kind of evil intention peeking around, leading them into the abyss. At the end of the dark passage was the open bloody mouth, waiting for them to step into it on their own.
The "Clown" suddenly fell to the ground. He angrily shook the help of others and stood up with his knees on his hands. He seemed to be tireless and could not feel the pain, and began to "moving quickly" again. "Hurry up! Hurry up!" He kept urging, "It's coming soon! It's mine!" He kept muttering.
Leo didn't know what was wrong with him? His delusion made him unable to extricate himself? Or did something affect him and control his mind? For example, what the "Clown" said... Leo quietly asked his magic consultant, but got a negative answer. "I can't feel anything. It's quiet and the magic is peaceful." Rosie replied, "If I were to say it, I would blame it on the curse."
The curse was silent and invisible, even more than the alchemist's poison. This made his uneasy and worry worse. The walls on both sides seemed to be constantly pressing towards the middle, while Alan Hurt's murmur was like a death note, making him feel swelling and unable to think.
He looked around and saw the mercenary commander who Alan Hurt did not want to mention his name, with a calm face - even more calm than Lu Yuewu - as if it was a serious and dead face. The courage from where he came from, Leo walked towards him.
However, when facing the other party, Leo instinctively felt a suffocating danger. It seemed as if a cobra was raising his neck and aiming the venom-filled fangs at his eyes.
"You and I are all using money to do things." He squinted his eyes and answered Leo's question, "How do the employer tells us, how do we do it. Of course, sometimes the employer is too stupid and we ignore it." He seemed to be pointing something.
"So what did he order?"
"Explore the way, clear the monsters, clear the traps. The work done by the scout."
Now the "Clown" is leading the way, and his purpose is obviously very clear. "He has a map?" Li Ou asked.
"Then you have to ask him." The other party said, "but he probably can't answer your question now."
"He seemed to be cursed," Leo pointed out.
"Who knows?" Li Ou couldn't see any flaws on the other party. "Some people will lose their minds in front of huge benefits." He looked behind him, "It's better to worry about the mercenaries behind him than to worry about this. Like our employers, greed will have irreparable consequences."
"So are you?" Li Ou asked back.
"I'm a mercenary too." He grinned, but it seemed like a cold wind that passed through the glacier. Li Ou shivered. "Mercenaries only work for money." Li Ou felt his eyes with a kind of banter and contempt that he could not understand. "It seems that you don't seem to worry about it."
Someone will deal with them. Leo Xin said. And the person in front of him - "I will be alert." He said, "But the person who claims to be a robber has done a very different thing than a robber. I should thank you for your reminder."
"You are very smart." The other party praised.
The stupidest one is him. Li Ou didn't feel happy at all. After the confrontation, he did not ask for any details he wanted to know. Instead, the fear and fear in his heart became increasingly deeper. The other party was like a pool of stagnant water, unable to stir up any turmoil. He was not like a mercenary. Li Ou thought to himself, but what was that?
They went deeper and entered the ground in unknown distance. It seemed as if after centuries, when they thought they were born as a mole living underground without seeing their fingers, the corridor ahead finally became wider, and the dust on the granite slabs under their feet gradually became thicker; the murals on the walls on both sides became complete, and the story became more and more exciting.
"This is Prophet Eleanor." Li Ou whispered to Lu Yuewu.
"It's just an old virgin who is full of delusions." Rosie interrupted.
"I like her story." Alisa whispered.
Li Ou's commentary had to stop because of this. He felt a little headache, as if someone was stirring his brain with a nail. "I'll talk to you when I get home." He rubbed his brows, and the numbness of the needle made him unable to concentrate on the murals beside him.
They walked towards the end with cold eyes in the statues on both sides of the corridor.
There was only a closed stone door blocking them. The stone door eroded by time was engraved with ancient words.
"What is it written on it?" Lu Yuewu asked.
"I only know some." Li Ou replied honestly, "There are two words on it that should be 'honor'."
"'Grand'?" Rosie snorted disdainfully, "Behind Grand is usually a fatal trap."
But she was wrong. Two mercenaries pushed open the stone gate and nothing happened.
They walked carefully into the last hall. The wooden tables and chairs had long turned into pieces and dust, and the exquisite candlesticks were gnawed by rust. Only the rare porcelain was still preserved intact, but the glaze and patterns on it were mottled. The stone pillars supporting the wide hall seemed to be bumpy, as if they had been eaten by insects, but they still faithfully adhered to their duties, just like the armor erected beside the stone pillars - they were then smashed to pieces by mercenaries like frightened birds.
The excitement on Alan Hurt's face seemed to see the fanatical believer of the gods. "I'm here, I'm here! I know you're here!" He shouted frantically and rushed out desperately. He fell again, but was not getting up. He seemed to be a mentally ill patient crawling on all fours. "I'm here! Wait for me!"
The mercenaries and the people of the Three Clans were robbed by his shouts. They thought that the dark hall outside the torch lighting was covered with gems and gold coins were stacked like mountains. One person screamed and rushed out. Then more people followed. They pushed and pulled each other, and finally surpassed Alan Hurt's crawling body and rushed into the darkness.
Luo Xi ran forward, but turned around and found that Li Ou was standing still.
"Why are you still standing there?" she shouted angrily.
"Don't go. Something is wrong."
"If you don't go, there will be nothing!" Once you hooked up with the gold coins, she felt like she had lost her mind. Even her amber eyes flashed with the shining luster of the gold coins. "That's the biggest mistake!" she shouted.
"Roxi." Lu Yuewu spoke. She was already in her hand and shook her head at the mage. "I believe in Li Ou's judgment. He will not harm us."
"Stop!" Alan Hurt stretched out his hand forward, "It's mine, it's only mine!"
But everything was futile. Strikes and insults sounded in the dark, as if this was the noisy tavern beside Aiyinbulo Harbour. But the noisy sound came to an abrupt end with a shrill shout. Only the voice of the "Clown" sounded faintly like a ghost, echoing constantly in the empty hall.
"I know you are here...I admire you, I surrender to you...I am yours...and you are mine, mine... will only belong to me..."
He crawled into the darkness that he could not see. And Li Ou suddenly realized that the figures of the mercenaries beside them had disappeared completely, and a fresh and bloody aura surrounded them.
"Be careful!" He shouted almost at the same time as Lu Yuewu.
Before their voices fell, the hall suddenly shone brightly, as if the black curtain blocking the sun's light had been torn off. The strong light made them instinctively raise their hands to block it, but their eyes still slightly sting and unable to see things.
When their sight returned, countless magic lights lit up on the dome of the hall, which made the hall look like a magnificent temple on the surface under the day. For a moment, Leo felt a sense of time disorder. In the center of the hall, mercenaries were killed and injured, and the blood dyed the stone slabs under them red. Alan Hurt knelt among the dead bodies on the ground, kneeling in a pool of blood, and kept muttering, as if blood was the incense burning in the temple, which could make his prayers more pious and reach the ears of the gods.
But beside the "Joker", the mercenary commander was showing a mocking smile to them.
"Hello, alchemists." He saluted them with his chest, "I am the judge knight of the black dawn. 'Ghost' Edsey."
"What do you want to do if you are lingering?" Andrewson shouted, concealing his fear, "Did you kill us? Then come! Don't talk nonsense!"
"Kill you?" "Ghost Shadow" shook his head and said, "If I were as crazy as those mages, I wouldn't have waited until now. There are many opportunities along the way, and it would be easy to kill you. Even if there are smart people among you, swordsmen, and mages."
This kind of praise is more like satire. Leo is not happy. "What are you going to do?" he asked.
"My mission does not include killing you. Now it has been completed. What will happen next has nothing to do with me." "Ghost" bowed slightly, his movements as impeccable as a real knight. "So, I can't stand it anymore."
He turned and left, and the magic lights went out one by one. In the shadows that the hall could not illuminate, some dark shadows hurriedly passed by. When the hall returned to darkness, they heard Alan Hurt shouting ecstatically: "Holy Bottle!"
The pool of blood gathered, and blood boiled. A half-person-high stone platform rose in the center of the hall. A bottle made of gold was placed on it, shining dazzlingly. Alan Hurt trembled with his hands covered in blood and carefully took it off, "You finally belong to me!" He was so excited that he almost burst into tears.
Now Li Ou finally understood why Alan Hurt hired so many geniuses-
Blood is the key to everything.
"You are mine!" Alan Hurt picked up the golden bottle stained with blood and laughed wildly, "It is mine!"
"Hurt!" Leo shouted.
"Joker" Alan Hurt suddenly hugged the golden bottle tightly. He looked at Leo vigilantly, "You, so many of you...what do you want to do? Don't come over, don't come over."
"He's crazy," said Rosie. Her eyes were always kept away from bottles made of gold.
"No one wants your stuff," said Leo, "we should go back."
"Go back? Where to go?" He looked at Leo approaching him, "I don't believe it! Even my brothers will deceive me, let alone you? You must want my bottle, right?" He lowered his head and stroked the bottle intoxicatedly, "It's so beautiful that it makes people unable to let go. Do you want it? Tell you!" He shouted at Leo, "No one can take you away from me! No one can!"
The "Clown" suddenly jumped up, avoided Leo's pull with agility beyond his size, and ran out of the hall. Leo tried to chase, but the stone gate suddenly closed in an instant. He shouted at the other end of the stone gate, "It's mine, no one can steal it!"
