Chapter 6 Paladins

Piao Tianwen     Suddenly I feel too lazy-

"Anyway, you all have to stop and see this."

The alchemists found them in the corner of the stable. The air was filled with the smell of urine, and several highland horses with mixed blood snorted and stared at him maliciously. The man was placed on the straw pile, with a brazier next to it. Firewood crackled and burst out Mars, making people worry that it would be engulfed by a raging fire due to a moment of negligence.

Evila touched the other person's pulse. "What?" She was not very interested.

No one looked up at him.

Leo shrugged, and he looked at the man with his eyes closed.

He had a pair of hands with swords, with a wide skeleton that could bear heavy armor. But now the man in front of him seemed like a skeleton, and even the farmer wielding a hoe was stronger than him. If someone told him that he was a paladin, Leo would definitely not believe it. Every paladin should be a warrior who died on the battlefield. How could he die in the stable sickly? He suddenly realized that he had been laughing, so he hurriedly closed his mouth and tried hard to put away his smile with a stern face.

"Why are you still here if you don't leave?" the village chief turned his head and shouted at him, as if not only disliked him for blocking the light, but also felt that the air he exhaled polluted the stables, as if they were killing them. "You are not welcome here."

You have never welcomed anyone.

"Okay, since that's the case..." He took a deep breath, "Okay okay, you really have to see." He was waiting to see the other party's clown-like show. He whistled happily in his heart.

"No matter what you are holding in your hand, I don't want to see it." The priest refused sternly. He raised his hand to the door without raising his head. "Go out, alchemist, don't get in the way."

"Really? You're sure you won't regret it?"

"I'm not interested in your stuff," said the pastor coldly.

"Lee!" Evila said impatiently, "Please, be quiet. We are trying to wake him up, and delay for a while, for fear that he will die. Lord Priest needs to be quiet for casting spells."

Leo didn't move.

She raised her head, not hiding the dissatisfaction on her face. "Can you leave first? I'll come again later..." Then, she saw the long sword that was shaking in front of her eyes with laughter. She continued to say in a daze, "...look for you..." She stopped talking, staring at the long sword in Li Ou's hand. "Li Ou, it... belongs to him?" She couldn't hide her surprise.

"Miss Bachelor, don't pay attention to him." The pastor cursed irritably, and he said to Evilla. "What else can he do besides being sarcastic and sarcastic? I don't want to see him when he leaves here."

"I really deserve to drive you out." The village chief also chattered, "Don't let me call the guards."

"Gentlemen, you should take a look," said Evila.

The priest refused, "Nothing good-looking, saving people is what we should do now." He cursed angrily while performing the magical arts, "He is dying, we are saving him, and you are determined to kill him, give him what you call mercy?"

Leo didn't answer for the time being.

The light of the magic technique penetrated the void and sprinkled from the roof. The man's head was shrouded in the holy rain of light, and the raindrops penetrated into his skin. The muscles on his face twitched, and a look of pain and struggle appeared. In the bright golden light, the alchemist seemed to see black gas in the blur.

Leo took a step forward. "Stop getting closer, alchemist." The village chief raised his crutch. "Stop!"

"I'm not a murderer." He said as he moved closer.

The man twitched violently in the light and rain. He saw more clearly: more, as if he was swaying left and right in the ocean current like seaweed, strands of black smoke and dust drilled out from his limbs and bones; from his ears, nostrils, and mouth; from his internal organs. A foul smell that seemed to be there and there was nothing, drooling into his nose, and waves of nausea surged in his stomach.

However, Li Ou knew that other people could not see these all kinds of visions, and even the pastor could not detect them.

The wisps of black smoke were sneering in front of the alchemist, twisting into various terrifying images, as if the demon's minions were yelling at him. He keenly discovered that the fire had dim before he knew it. As the priest prayed, the surroundings were getting colder, and the stables were like cold caves.

The weak horses no longer shouted at him. They curled up in the corner, laying in the thick meadow, whining helplessly.

Whether the other party is really a monster in the rumor or not, everything is urgent. However, he believes that his suspicion is destined to be recognized by them, especially when they know the identity of this person.

"You should not treat him here, but transfer him to the church..."

"…It's not your turn to talk here."

Old man, he thought angrily, your eyes are so white that you don't understand anything at all.

"But I'm worried that you will kneel down immediately and beg Andal for forgiveness."

"How dare you call me the name of a lady!" He simply threw the sword directly at the priest's feet. "Uh...this...this...this..." The priest stretched out his hand and held the sword with thick calluses. His old, calloused hands touched the seal on it. He raised his head in disbelief, "How is this impossible? Is this his?"

Leo thought his neck was broken, and it turned out that he could lift it up. "The Paladin's sword." He snorted disdainfully, "Pastor, you should know it?"

"Yes, I know it. I can't read it wrong." The pastor swallowed a bitter saliva with difficulty. He was still in shock, his mind was blank, and he could not think at all. "But why... why is it here? Are you sure this belongs to him? What's wrong with him?"

Leo also wanted to know the exact answer to the pastor’s question, after all, doubts will never become a fact.

"Don't you understand this?" He couldn't help but say sarcastically, "Save him, Lord Pastor."

In the church, the militia cleared the benches and made a flat ground.

The priest lit seventy-seven candles in front of the statue - most of them came from the patchwork of the villagers. The candles were arranged in the shape of a six-pointed star, and the paladin was placed in the magic circle. Then the expensive incense was lit - Leo guessed that it was a long time ago, and it was probably accompanied by the priest's arrival. Because the box that the latter carefully uncovered when he took it out was covered with dust. The priest murmured while sprinkling flawless and pure rootless water in the magic circle, and then threw the magic dust into it.

If it were in the age when the gods were still alive, casting spells is prayer, scriptures and doctrines are mantras, and faith is the source of divine arts. There is no need to be so complicated, just like the shamans in the wilderness. But the shamans can communicate with the tribe's ancestors, but the pastor who was shirking his responsibilities a moment ago but now solemnly cannot do it.

If he could awaken the other party, it was already considered as the blessing of the gods, Leo thought contemptuously.

After all the preparations were done, he turned around and frowned impatiently. "Go out and leave me alone, I need absolute peace. I have to meditate and pray. I must not be disturbed."

"All the Alton, do you have to go out?" the village chief asked worriedly, "Are you sure you don't need help?"

"No, I don't need it. I'm fine." The priest refused. "I'm the only priest in the village, and I have to do it alone. You leave here too, give me some time and it will be done soon. The Virgin will not abandon her believers. Her kindness is beyond my reach. I will do my best to wake him up...provided that there are no blasphemers or pagans here." He looked at Leo angrily, as if he was an unforgivable criminal, an enemy of the deep hatred. "Especially you, the alchemist, go out." He shouted loudly, "This is the sanctuary of the lady, not your bedroom. Go out! Don't defile it."

He sent the Holy Sword to avoid reprimands, but was instead subjected to the most harsh accusations. What happened to this world? But the awkward appearance of the priest in the stable made people laugh. He shrugged and whistled happily out the door.

The church door was closed tightly behind him, making a dull sound.

"Miss Bachelor, please look forward to your friend." The village chief warned, "I don't want to see any unpleasant things happening between us." After he said that, he glanced at Leo coldly, and then left with a cane surrounded by militia.

"They've done too much," Evila said.

Li Ou chuckled and said nothing.

The sun shrouded the mountains, but he didn't feel any warmth.

"If I were alone, if we were all villain thieves..." Li Ou whispered to her while leading Evila down the ramp, "I will pull you away immediately, the farther the better."

She raised her head in surprise, "What did you say?"

"Don't you think it's too cold here?" said Leo, "and there is no warmth under the holy brilliance."

Evila covered her mouth with her hands, and her big eyes showed horror. "You mean... this is not true, right? Leo, isn't he a paladin? How could it be the demon in their mouth?"

Leo sighed and walked down the last step. The villagers around saw him and pointed at him from afar. Perhaps it was his arrogant attitude, profane words, or the priest complained about gossip that made these villagers feel disgusted with him. But he didn't care. Let them say theirs. He would leave here soon and never come back.

He avoided the kid chasing and playing, lowered his voice, "To be honest, I haven't figured it out yet." He explained to Evilla, and expected to get some useful information from her knowledge. "I don't really think that cold evil intentions are hidden too deeply. Is he blasphemed by the demon or he chose to fall by himself? He will only know when he wakes up."

"I think I should be out of the way." Evilla thought for a while and said, "There are almost no records of the Paladin."
