Chapter 203 Gongsun Zan Rising Strongly

Speaking of Gongsun Zan, we must first make a simple explanation and explanation of the geographical administrative divisions in the northeast at the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty. (eng.com_)

At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Youzhou, located in the northeast of the Great Han territory, was actually an irregular area with a very long east-west and narrow north-south area, composed of the current north-eastern Shanxi, northern Hebei, most of Liaoning and north-west Korea. The entire northern part of Youzhou is filled with various ethnic minorities, such as Liaodong and Liaoxi Xianbei, Wuwan, Goguryeo, Fuyu, Yilou, Woju, and Sanhan (Mahan, Mouhan, Chenhan).

Here, the southern road is particularly corrected for everyone: Goguryeo in the late Eastern Han Dynasty has nothing to do with the two poker countries on a certain peninsula now! The specific location of Goguryeo is that Jilin Province, the three eastern provinces, is close to most of Liaoning, while Goguryeo's north is Fuyu and Yilou (occupies Heilongjiang Province and the Sikhot Mountains in Russia), and Goguryeo's east is Woju near the estuary of the Tumen River.

At that time, the three Koreans occupied most of the territory of the Korean Peninsula. As for the title of Korea, it would have to be pushed forward for thousands of years. After the Western Zhou Dynasty destroyed the Shang Dynasty, Jizi, the remnant of the Shang Dynasty, led 5,000 people to the Korean Peninsula to establish the "Ji Mausoleum" with the local natives. After King Wu successfully defeated Zhou, he named him a vassal state, known in history as "Ji Mausoleum". Although this history was specifically recorded in "Records of the Grand Historian" written by Ma Qian, Taishi Company, for later generations of "historians" in a bird-feathered area that did not even have any words in the Han Dynasty, they did not recognize this history.

Regarding the pitiful history on a certain peninsula, I will tell you in detail in the future. Now let us focus on the white horse general Gongsun Zan, who is fighting against the Liaodong Xianbei and Wuhuan people.

Gongsun Zan (named Bogui), a native of Lingzhi in western Liaoning (now Annan in Hebei), was the chief minister of Liaodong. He was promoted to the General of the Central Army by the court because he led his army to fight back against the Xianbei and Wuwan people who invaded the border. He was granted the title of prefect of Youbeiping County, with territory of Yin, Xu Wu, Wu Zhong, and Junmi.

Gongsun Zan studied under Lu Zhi in his early years. To put it to the popular saying now, he was Liu Da'er's senior. Since the Yellow Turban Rebellion, Gongsun Zan suddenly felt that the Xianbei and Wuwan people in the north were much more honest, so he tied up his troops and turned around and responded to the call of the court to launch a fierce attack on the Yellow Turban Rebellion in Yuyang County, Guangyang County and other places. To say that Gongsun Zan was able to advance west so calmly, it was entirely up to Zhao Xing.

At that time, Zhao Xing beat the Xianbei United Army that was attacking the south and invading the border to death, the captured prisoners and the fleeing. Then Zhao Yun led the Canglang Army deep into the northern part of the desert and captured the Danhan Mountain of the Xianbei people. Zhao Yun was still not satisfied, so he turned around and chased the Xianbei people eastward and beat them up, which made Liaodong, Liaoxi Xianbei and even Wuwan people all in danger, and did not dare to cause trouble in the northern part of Youzhou anymore, but fled northward.

After Gongsun Zan and his younger brother Gongsun Yue entered Yuyang County with three thousand "White Horses Yicong", they were fought to the death by the local Yellow Turban Rebellionists. To be honest, the combat effectiveness of the Yellow Turban Rebellion Army was divided into regions. The more they were located north, the more they were, the more they were brave and fearless they were in danger of death because of the bitter and cold climate. This made the Yellow Turban Rebellion Army stronger the combat effectiveness of the Yellow Turban Rebellion Army, and the more difficult it was to encircle and suppress it.

While stalemate with the Yellow Turban Rebellion, Gongsun Zan heard the report of the personal soldiers under the tent, saying that the former governor of Jizhou, Han Fu, had left Guan Chun, and the chief Geng Wu, and the two were looking for a meeting outside the tent. Gongsun Zan was worried about the lack of available people under his command. After hearing this report, he felt a stir and quickly gave the account to welcome the two.

"The unparalleled man greets General Gongsun!" Guan Chun and Geng Wu bowed to Gongsun Zan together.

"The two capable men are not very honored to visit today!" Gongsun Zan said politely.

"The general guards the border for the country and repeatedly defeats the Xianbei. Wuhuan is outside the Great Wall. Guan respects it!" After sitting down, Guan Chun praised Gongsun Zan and said.

"Some little achievements are worth mentioning!" Gongsun Zan continued to refuse politely.

"I wonder if the general will be able to successfully bring troops to combat the Yellow Turban disaster in Yuyang?" Geng Wu finally asked the main topic.

"The Yellow Turbans in Yuyang are violent and stubborn, and it is very difficult to clear them!" Gongsun Zan sighed and said with some sorrow.

"Geng is not talented and is willing to recommend one person to the general. With this person from the side, he will break the Yellow Turban in Yuyang like a baby to take something!" Geng Wu said.

When Geng Wu said that Yuyang had such a useful talent, Gongsun Zan was shocked, so he hurriedly asked, "I wonder who is recommended by sir?"

"Tian Yu, a descendant of the Tian family of the Yongnu clan of Yuyang!" Geng Wu replied, "This man has been familiar with military books since he was a child, has outstanding archery and horse skills, and is very talented. He has an old age with Geng, so he recommends to the general!"

"Now that when you are employed, the two gentlemen are worse than Qu Ju Zan's tent. If you have a place to go in the future, you will never stop him!" Gongsun Zan followed the situation and threw an olive branch to Guan Chun and Geng Wu.

"Thank you for taking it in by General!" Guan Chun did not refuse and agreed openly.

"Geng is willing to go to Yongnu for the general to persuade Tian Guorang to come and sue!" Geng Wu took the initiative to take on the task of recruiting Tian Yu.

"If you can get the assistance of two gentlemen, Zan is like adding another arm!" Gongsun Zan said happily.

Afterwards, after some in-depth exchanges, Gongsun Zan learned that the former governor of Jizhou, Han Fu, had already gone to Chang'an. Guan Chun and Geng Wu were unwilling to follow Han Fuyuan to Chang'an, nor were they willing to stay and serve their new master Yuan Shao. So after discussion, they ran to the north to surrender to Gongsun Zan, intending to guard the border for the Han Dynasty.

The next day, Geng Wu went to Yongnu to find his friend Tian Yu, because the Pinggu City where Gongsun Zan was stationed at that time was less than 70 miles away from Yongnu and less than five days back and forth, he invited Tian Yu to Gongsun Zan's tent.

"Tian Yu, a savage man from Yongnu, met General Baima!" Tian Yu saluted Gongsun Zan.

"The country has been out of here, and I hope you can come and help you soon!" Gongsun Zan said happily, holding Tian Yu's hand.

"With the favor of the general, I am willing to follow my side in the future and do my best!" Tian Yu said humbly.

"Okay, okay, okay! Isn't it easy to get help from the country and destroy the Yellow Turbans and the people!" Gongsun Zan laughed loudly. Then Gongsun Zan appointed Tian Yu as the military advisor of the White Horse Rebel Army and the chief of the Youbeiping County; Guan Chun as the chief clerk of the Youbeiping County, and Geng Wu as the Gongcao of the Youbeiping County.

There are many records about Tian Yu, who is a man of his own. In general, he is very treacherous in his military service, advances and retreats, and is good at managing internal affairs. He is very similar to Jia Xu under Zhao Xing's tent. He can be called the young version of Jia Xu. In history, Tian Yu finally surrendered to Cao Wei, and was appointed as the General of the Central Army of the Hungarians, General Zhenwei, and was granted the title of Governor of Bingzhou and Marquis of Changleting. Tian Yu was very good at fighting against foreign tribes, and was good at governing prefectures and counties. Finally, he took over the important position of Governor of Bingzhou that Zhao Xing is currently working on.

After Tian Yu took office, he immediately recommended Murong Ping, a general with superb archery skills to Gongsun Zan, and a local Tongtianchou who was familiar with the situation in the northern desert and often walked inside and outside the Great Wall. Gongsun Zan was assisted by Tian Yu, and followed by Murong Ping and Tianchou. For a while, he was full of talents. In the subsequent battle to encircle and suppress the Yellow Turban Rebellion in Yuyang, he was indeed unstoppable. In less than two months, he cleared the Yellow Turban Rebellion in Yuyang.

After the court received the victory of Gongsun Zan, in order to encourage the commanders of other prefectures and counties to fight hard, it promoted Gongsun Zan and granted the title of General Pingbei, which was given to Gongsun Zan by Zhao Xing, which was also a disguised way to weaken Zhao Xing.

Why do you say this? In fact, according to Zhao Xing's original intention, he wanted to win some titles for Guan Yu, Xu Huang and others under his tent. Through Wang Yue, Zhao Xing also conveyed this meaning to the crown prince Liu Bian, and Liu Bian also agreed. However, the ministers in the court, Yuan Wei, Zhang Wen and others, interfered, and finally gave Gongsun Zan a favor.

However, after Zhao Xing learned that Gongsun Zan had been promoted to General Pingbei, he felt quite comforted. He thought that since Gongsun Zan had risen to the third rank, he would definitely rise strongly in Youzhou in the future. He could not only guard against the Xianbei and Wuhuan in the north, but also suppress the Gongsun Du family in Liaodong. In the end, he would not be too difficult to fight with Yuan Shao. This is a good thing for Bingzhou, which requires time to accumulate strength. As for Gongsun Zan in the future, it is difficult to deal with, it may hinder Zhao Xing's pace of unification of the world. This is a later story. Zhao Xing really doesn't feel that it is too troublesome to deal with Gongsun Zan.

The subsequent development of the situation directly confirmed Zhao Xing's judgment. After Gongsun Zan and Yuan Shao finally fought hard to compete for Youzhou, they not only suffered losses, but also made Yuan Shao suffer a lot of losses!
