The middle "handle handle" casts out four layers of eight leaves: representing the four paramitas and the sixteen great bodhisattvas, and the eight offerings and four thirty-seven treasures. The four corners and four beads represent the four directions and four Buddhas, and the middle hidden bead represents the Great Sun Tathagata. The waist of the eight leaves is tied with two ropes; it represents the two methods of "concentration and wisdom". Also: the outer lever each has claws, which symbolizes the head of the lion; the number is eight, which means "transforming the eight consciousnesses into the heart of the four wisdoms". Mastering this lever is equivalent to abide in the Buddha's Vajra wisdom and virtue.
