Section 11 Crystal
The happy time of the morning passed in a flash, and I had to travel back to Cairo in the afternoon. The journey was quite difficult, 500 kilometers and a 7-hour drive.
The first half of the road was basically along the Red Sea, and some places were just like the sea on the road. The road was really full of resorts, and some places close to Cairo seemed to be places where Egyptians took vacations. Sometimes a small car was parked on the side of the road, and more than a dozen people were playing with water on the beach next to it - Egyptian cars were very capable of installing...
The second half of the road is all desert, because the journey is too long, and I feel it is especially boring. I understand very well what kind of despair it feels like when people hike through the desert when the traffic is not developed... It was past 9 o'clock in the evening in Cairo, and it felt like they were all dispersed.
Alexander is the northernmost city in Egypt, located at the mouth of the Nile River to the Mediterranean Sea. It takes another 3 or 4 hours to drive from Cairo to Alexander, and it is another long-distance bus.
As soon as I arrived in Alexandria, I felt a completely different feeling from the Egyptian city before. It was more like a European city, with a somewhat European architectural style, with trams passing through the city center, and the atmosphere on the Esplanade was slightly Greek.
Perhaps the ones I went to before were not very developed Egypt, such as Luxor and Aswan, and in Cairo, they were basically in Giza, so it was really refreshing to come to Alexander - finally there was a feeling of a modern city.
Although the road conditions are not good, people who look at the sea and waves and the dense vacations on the beach do not feel boring. This city along the Mediterranean has beautiful scenery and unique romance, and is called the bride of the Mediterranean.
In fact, it’s good to walk around the Mediterranean city, but since Nalan Seqi and Yunluo are on a group tour, they will naturally arrange some attractions.
The first one is the Montazha Palace, which is known as Cleopatra who lived in (it was only seen on the notice of leaving the group and had never seen it anywhere else...), also called the Summer Palace.
Montazar Palace is a royal garden in Europe, with various flowers, plants and plants imported from Africa. The core building was the place where the Egyptian president took a vacation before the revolution, and now I don’t know how to use it now - a very exquisite small castle.
However, what attracts Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo here can contact the Mediterranean Sea, and you can walk from a small path to the beach. The wind and waves in the Mediterranean are larger than those in the Red Sea, and the waves sometimes splash high waves when hitting the stones.
I don’t know why I don’t stay at the beach for too long. Soon, a guard asked Nalan Shuqi and Yunluo to leave. I don’t know why.
Alexander actually does not have any real cultural relics with a particularly long history, but glorious miracles have indeed appeared in history - libraries and lighthouses.
The Alexander Library is the world's first national library, and has left a resounding name here, such as Aristotle, Euclid, Homer, etc. However, Caesar's fire burned out the library and was not rebuilt until 2002 at the advice of UNESCO.
It is said that I have also considered restoring the ancient appearance, but in the end I decided to build a brand new look. To be honest, seeing this new library feels like putting the Century Monument at the National Grand Theater - a library similar to an inclined disc-shaped library with a circle of water pools around it - if Yun Luo makes a decision, Yun Luo is more inclined to restore the ancient appearance.
The big lighthouse is one of the seven miracles of ancient humans. It was more than 160 meters high when it existed. The huge flames guided the direction for ships in the Mediterranean.
However, due to many earthquakes, it finally collapsed completely in 1303. The Catbet Castle was a castle built by the Sultan of the collapsed lighthouse. It was used to resist the attack of the Turks, and the castle was seriously damaged and repaired. Only the seven miracles of ancient humans still existed. The others were destroyed by natural disasters, which further highlighted the difficulty of the pyramids.
The Pillar of Pompeii was first named for the Roman General Pompeii, but later because the inscription was cracked, it was confirmed that it was actually dedicated to the Roman emperor. (Yun Luo thought it was related to the disappearing ancient city of Pompeii before checking the information...)
When you walk into this place, you can only see a tall pillar and two sphinxes. It is said that there were more than 400 such pillars. But now there is only one. There is also a secret passage leading to the Alexander Library in ancient times. At that time, Nalan Shiqi and Yun Luo wanted to go in and take a look, but were stopped by the guards and had to give up.
It is a coincidence that a donkey suddenly fell into a hole and discovered a family cemetery in the Roman period. The mural style of this cemetery actually retains the Egyptian tomb style. It seems that it was the burial place of a family who believed in polytheism in the Roman period.
The reason why it is called a tomb group is that there are mummies buried here. But compared to the ancient tombs on the west bank of the Nile River, it is really humid. I wonder if mummies can be preserved well in such an environment.
There was only one small room in the catacomb group that was stopped and not allowed to enter. It is said that Christians who were persecuted in Roman times fled here to take refuge and were found, all of them were killed, and their bodies were buried in this small room. I suddenly felt that the yin energy was too heavy and I dared not stay for too long. Just take a look and leave.
When it comes to Egypt's traffic, it's really not a good idea. There seem to be very few lane lines on the road, and cars cross and vertically on the road; there seems to be very few crossroads, and you always need to turn right first, and then turn around for a long time, which is equivalent to turning left...
So traffic jams are indeed quite common, so it is obvious that Nalan Seqi and Yunluo are only about 300 kilometers from Alexander to Cairo, but it takes 4 or 5 hours. It’s painful.
The Arabs lacked stone when they founded Cairo, and basically destroyed the remains of Memphis. The current Memphis ruins are just a small, semi-open-air museum. There are not many cultural relics here, and the more famous ones include a Sphinx and two statues of Ramses II.
This Sphinx is the second largest Sphinx in Egypt. The owner is unclear. There are three statements: Amenhotep III, Hatshepsut and Ramses II. Yun Luo feels that from the slightly feminine smile, he seems to be more like Hatshepsut.
Among the two statues of Ramses II, the one standing there was basically no clear face. It is said that it was a statue when he was not a pharaoh in his youth. Indeed, his iconic arrogant smile could not be seen on his face.
There is also a small house that is flat and upside down. This statue is basically perfect except for one leg missing. Its face is so delicate that it is comparable to the Tutankhamun golden mask. It should be regarded as the most beautiful statue I saw in Egypt (no one).
Egypt's most famous gifts - fragrance, papyrus paintings, and cotton fabrics. However, these things can be seen everywhere in Egypt, which are expensive for hundreds of dollars and cheap for dozens of angstroms. The tour guide said that there are real and fakes, such as fragrances, which really contain no alcohol, oil, and the opposite; while papyrus paintings, which really use papyrus, and banana leaves and sugarcane skins, are really hard to tell whether they are true or false.
I can basically believe that it is true in the shopping store arranged by the tour group, but the prices are also quite good. In short, traveling is always inevitable. If you need it, you can still buy some for yourself or give it to others, and the things are pretty good.
The real ancient Egyptians and culture have not been well passed down now. It can even be said that the current Egyptians have little to do with the ancient Egyptians. The current Egyptians are actually mainly Arabs, and 80% of the people in China believe in Islam, so there are also many mosques in the capital.
However, the itinerary of Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo did not include feeling Islamic culture. This mosque was also written by Melard for Nalan Shiqi and Yunluoga, because he felt that since he came to an Islamic country, he always had to look at the Islamic culture (although he was a Christian).
Yunluo really didn't hear the name of this mosque. It was very long... I came back to check the information and found the name, so I asked for guidance. The mosque is very large, with a quadrilateral surrounding a cleaning pond in the middle. It seems that this is a mosque open for tourists, so few people go to the temple to worship.
You can visit here, take off your shoes, and women can only enter through the small door next to them, and wear a green robe.
Yunluo really doesn't know much about religion, and he doesn't know what to ask or say. He can only walk around and feel the style of Islamic architecture. Devout believers recite scriptures and worship here, and from time to time someone comes to send you some religious booklets, and Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo basically visited here.
The Khalilly Market is the third largest market in the world - it is indeed big enough. Nalan Shuqi and Yunluo were almost lost. Before coming, I heard that the people here were keen eyes and could clearly distinguish Chinese, Japanese and Koreans, but Nalan Shuqi and Yunluo were often mistaken. The vendors would say "hello" to you in various Asian languages until you react.
At first, Yunluo smiled politely at what they said "Hello" but they would be dragged to sell goods, so he pretended not to understand.
Although there are many people selling things here, to be honest, Yunluo's various statues are as shoddy as ever. Naifertiti, Tutankhamun, etc., they look thirty or forty years old. The copper plates here are very famous and are said to be purely handmade. However, after looking at several of them, Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo felt that they could not stand the careful look.
