Chapter 45: The Gate of Hell
The wish of not realizing the desire to see what treasures the Earth Hourglass can bring to him was very depressed.
But no matter how depressed you are, you can't run back to experiment.
So Lao Liu could only sleep in a panic.
Fortunately, Old Liu is broad-minded and can eat and sleep, so he won’t toss and turn because of this.
I had no dreams all night. At around six o'clock the next day, Lao Liu, who had been sleeping for seven hours, woke up under the urging of the biological clock.
It was still dark outside. Old Liu wanted to sleep for a while, but he really couldn't sleep anymore. He was having a fuss with Bai Shi on the bed for a while and decided to get up and wash, then eat and set off.
I had breakfast at the Sichuan restaurant where I had dinner last night, and returned to the hotel parking lot and started the car.
When the car was hot, Lao Liu smoked a cigarette, but ended up meeting Li Lishan and the others again.
Li Lishan and his group are all from Jincheng, the capital of Xilong Province. They probably are used to getting up early and can't sleep when they are late.
But the two children were still confused, with their little heads pecking at rice like chickens, which looked very interesting.
After a while of greeting, the three cars parted ways. Lao Liu headed north, while they headed south.
Lao Liu rushed to Tanggulashan Town, a small town located on the south bank of Tuotuo River.
It took nearly two hours to run less than a hundred kilometers, which was somewhat beyond Lao Liu's expectations.
There is no way, because yesterday's light rain and snow, there was dark ice on the road and I didn't dare to run away.
If Old Liu got up an hour later, the dark ice would melt as soon as the sun came out, and the speed would naturally be faster. Unfortunately, he got up too early and could only walk slowly.
In Tanggulashan Town, Lao Liu saw the Tuotuo River in summer.
This river is the main source of the Yangtze River. The previous Buqu next to Yanshiping will eventually merge into the Tuotuo River and then form the Tongtian River.
The water volume of Tuotuo River in summer is still very large. The turbid yellow river water rushes down from the upper reaches along the wide river channel. The width of the river is 200 meters, which is quite as powerful as the Yellow River enters the sea.
There are two bridges side by side on the river. To the east is the Tuotuo River Bridge on National Highway 109, and 800 meters away to the west is the Qinghai-Tibet Railway's railway bridge. This railway bridge also has an extremely famous name - the first bridge at the source of the Yangtze River!
This title is really true. Because there is no bridge again when you walk up the railway bridge. The Tuotuo River Bridge on the Qinghai-Tibet Railway is the first bridge on the Tuotuo River.
Although the 109 Highway Bridge to the west was built far earlier than the railway bridge, the highway bridge could only rank second in terms of location.
The white lion who had never seen such a big river was also very excited. He raised his head and roared at the Tuotuo River, attracting the attention of many tourists who were sightseeing and taking pictures here.
Fortunately, the surrounding area is wide enough, so no one comes to find it uninteresting.
After staying in Tuotuo River for about twenty minutes, Lao Liu continued to move forward. However, the magnificent scenery of Tuotuo River made Lao Liu feel better again.
After crossing the Tuotuo River, you will enter the famous Kekexili unmanned land. However, when driving on the Qinghai-Tibet Highway, you can't feel the desolation of the unmanned land at all.
National Highway 109 is the eastern edge of the Kekexili Non-Manned Land, and the real Non-Manned Land needs to go west for a long time. Although Lao Liu also wanted to use his sword to walk around the world and go to the core area of the Non-Manned Land, he remembered the news that tourists who entered the Non-Manned Land were missing due to various tricks, Lao Liu finally suppressed his restless heart.
If you go to the unmanned land alone, it is just a mouse who serves as a escort for the cat. If you really want to go to the unmanned land, you must at least form a convoy. Even so, you will still be reported by the Unmanned Land Administration. If someone asks you to go in, there is another thing to say.
Anyway, the most precious Tibetan antelope in the no-man's land has seen Tibetan wild donkeys on the road. If you don't go in this time, it's the nickname of Wu Jing's son - Wu So-Wei...
After driving forward for half an hour after leaving the Tuotuo River, Lao Liu saw a reddish-brown bare mountain.
Judging from the map, this mountain is the famous Fenghuo Mountain.
From Highway 109, you can vaguely see the Fenghuoshan Tunnel, the highest railway tunnel in the world. This railway tunnel with a total length of 1,338 meters and an altitude of 4,905 meters is the highest tunnel in the world, and it is also an unchallenge report card delivered by Chinese railway workers to the world.
This miraculous railway tunnel deserves respect from anyone, so Lao Liu got out of the car and took the white lion to watch the railway tunnel silently for a long time.
After leaving Fenghuo Mountain, I continued to drive forward for an hour and a half, and then I arrived at the "Ghost Gate" Five Rails on the Qinghai-Tibet Highway.
Wudaoliang is known as the "No. 1 Ghost Gate of Hell on the Qinghai-Tibet Highway". It is not a casual talk. Although this town with an altitude of 4,415 meters is far inferior to the Tanggula Pass and the Tuojula Pass, it is not as good as Fenghuo Mountain and Yanshiping, but it is recognized as the first Ghost Gate of Hell on the plateau.
Because we have to cross the Kunlun Mountains along the Qinghai-Tibet Highway to enter the plateau, although we have to cross the Kunlun Mountains first, because the time to enter the plateau is still short, people generally do not have altitude sickness. When we reach Wudaoliang, most people will start to have altitude sickness.
The altitude of Wudaoliang is not low in itself, and the mercury content in the surrounding land is relatively high, so there is almost no vegetation, which leads to a reduction in oxygen content.
Wudaoliang is considered the most difficult part of the Qinghai-Tibet Line and is prone to altitude sickness. It is usually believed that as long as you can safely pass Wudaoliang, the Tanggula Pass will not have a big problem.
Therefore, it is very uncomfortable for tourists or drivers entering the plateau to arrive at Wudaoliang.
There is a saying that proves the horror of Wudaoliang - when it comes to Wudaoliang, he cries his father and calls his mother!
There is another saying that is even more terrifying - Nachitai got sick, and Wudaoliang killed his life!
Nachitai is a scenic spot less than 100 kilometers away from Garmu, with an altitude of 3,500 meters. There is a Kunlun Holy Spring that has not been frozen all year round.
This town with only more than 200 people is okay in summer, but starting from October, Wudaoliang has entered a special state, because from October, even the town has to use water to pull it from other places with water trucks, which is enough to prove the hardship here.
Li Lishan's wife Wang Li started to have altitude reversal in Wudaoliang yesterday, but her altitude reversal was not very serious, so she persisted until Yanshiping to become unbearable. If she hadn't met Lao Liu, this trip to Tibet would have been unforgettable for her forever.
When the Wudaoliang high reflux occurs, if the symptoms are mild, it can be relieved by inhaling oxygen and drinking hot water. But if the symptoms are severe, the best way is to quickly withdraw to Garmu.
Of course, you can also insist on not evacuating, but it is really easy to cause danger. Well, this danger means death!
This is not a boast. A large number of people once thought they could handle it and insisted on it. As a result, they never got up after sleeping...
This is a very sad thing.
Therefore, tourists and drivers entering the plateau from the Qinghai-Tibet Highway. Once a high reversal occurs in Wudaoliang, as long as the symptoms worsen and nothing is said, it is better to withdraw Garmu as soon as possible. Never show off your strength, because the result of hard work is that there is a great possibility to keep your life on the plateau forever!
In fact, with Lao Liu's physique, if he had first entered Tibet, he would have been on the Qinghai-Tibet Line at home, he would probably not be able to get through the Wudaoliang hurdle.
Although flying directly to Sunshine City will also have a high reversal, after all, Sunshine City's altitude is much lower than that of Wudaoliang, and the oxygen content of Sunshine City is much higher than that of Wudaoliang, so Lao Liu could persist.
Now he has no problem. After lunch at Wudaoliang, he crossed Kunlun Mountain in one breath and killed Garmu in the evening.
It took two days and one night to complete this journey of more than 1,000 kilometers. Looking back at the towering Kunlun Mountains in the distance, Old Liu was also filled with emotion.
It is said that self-driving tours are a fun thing, but those who have not driven by the Qinghai-Tibet Line should not imagine how good their own Qinghai-Tibet Line is.
The scenery here is indeed extremely beautiful, but you must also pay attention to a killer like altitude sickness!
Stayed in Garmu for one night, and on the third morning, I boarded the Beijing-Tibet Expressway and rushed towards Tianqu, more than two thousand kilometers away...
PS: This chapter is an update for the Chunlong League leader. Still the same sentence, it is now during the new book that I can’t pay back the bill, but Lao Mo is keeping the account in mind. When it is put on the shelves, I will pay back the bill. Today I will add a chapter to the meaning...
