Chapter Thirteen The Devil

(ps: It has been up to 26th place, only three weeks, let me go up to the list. Please vote and collect)

At midnight, a concave and waning moon rose slowly from behind Chamberlain's town with a bright red color. The alarm sounded throughout the town also weakened.

Carrie staggered from the distance, and in the distance behind her, the flames were blazing, outlining the silhouette of the town's houses and the huge billboard standing on the road in the distance.

But the most violent flame in Zhou Zhou's eyes was Carrie. Her life was not very bright, but it was bright and dazzling. Carrie's body was already red and white.

Carrie slowly turned into the yard and into the room.

Zhou Zhou wanted to fly in and observe, but hesitated for a while and stopped again. He thought of Carrie's telepathy.

Since her telepathy can be conveyed to him in his soul state, it is very likely that he can be detected.

Zhou Zhou had to continue waiting. After a while, Carrie walked out of the room. She didn't change her clothes and walked out with a numb expression.

Carrie walked out ten meters and there were fires flashing in the doors and windows of the house.

Walking a hundred meters away, smoke oozed out of the gaps in the house.

Zhou Zhou floated behind her, following her through a backyard, and then passed through a pine and oak hedge that had not yet grown. Then a short wasteland path—a pedestrian path—snaked to the right, forming an angle with Highway 6.

She walked on Route 6.

——————What do she want to do? Do you want to stand on the road and get a car hit!?

The light column of the headlights was on from afar, and a car rushed over, which was Billy's red Ford Mustang!

Carrie stood quietly, the Ford Mustang's engine roared, getting closer and closer, and then...... rumbled! Glass splashed, steel folded, and the entire front of the car was shrunk.

Carrie walked around the car and continued, but this time she was much slower, her hands covering her heart and her body was hunched over.

Keep walking out of the white ten steps until a turn, and the red Ford Mustang cannot be seen.

Then she slowly fell to the ground.

Zhou Zhou saw that the flames of her life quickly extinguished.

Zhou Zhou flew to her nervously.

————————The mission still failed?!

At this moment, two beams of light approached in the distance.

Six black box cars drove quickly, lined up and stopped beside Carrie.

The car door opened, and more than a dozen people wearing silver protective suits and masks stepped on the rough road, came to Carrie and carried her to the stretcher.

Finally, a middle-aged man in a black suit and black sunglasses walked out of the car.

————Jobs!

Zhou Zhou recognized him as the English teacher who loves to show off.

"How is the situation?" he asked by holding a caregiver.

"TK capacity is overexpected, heart failure. I have been injected with adrenaline. But I think her heart may not be used. I need heart surgery."

"So serious? None of the people in the lab have this problem," Jobs asked.

"The TK devils in the laboratory used to be no longer as strong as her. Before, the TK devils in the natural environment had more powerful abilities. The organization had been arranged for ten years, and now the assumption has become a reality. Carrie is indeed much more than those TK devils."

"Especially that kind of spiritual linking ability. If the commander of a small army has this ability, that ordinary army can match the Seals Six."

"It's a pity that only women can inherit this TK ability."

"Save her. We sacrificed the entire town of Chamberlain. If she lost her, it would be a huge loss." Jobs instructed.

"Sacrifice? Is the organization not planning to rebuild the town?"

"No, another surveillance object is in Linzhen. This place has been abandoned by the organization. Put down the clone. I don't want to make things worse." Jobs said.

Zhou Zhou was listening to their conversation all the time. He was surprised.

It turns out that the entire Chamberlain Town is just an experimental base! The residents have become guinea pigs without realizing it, just to catalyze the ripening fruit of Carrie!

Just as he was thinking this, the Lord God's cold voice rang out.

"Save Carrie, the mission is completed. Start teleporting back to the main world. Save the existing channel, and you can open the channel by redeeming points for 100 points.

Complete the remaining main tasks and get a reward of 1000 points. Discover hidden plots. Reward D-level side plots."

After hearing this, Zhou Zhou's eyes turned dark and he fainted.

Quote from the Associated Press Agency's automatic closure machine on Friday, June 5, 2014:

Associated Press Chamberlain, Maine: State officials say the death toll in Chamberlain town is 409, and 49 are still on the missing list. Investigations about Kerita White and the so-called "TK" phenomenon are still ongoing, and rumors are constantly rumored that an abnormal brain and cerebellar structure was found in the autopsy of Miss White. The state governor has appointed a special committee to investigate the entire tragedy. End.

Quote from the Livingston Sun Daily Sunday, September 7 page 3:

TK's Heritage: Scorched Earth and Endurance

Chamberlain - Balloon night is now history. As the saying goes, time can heal all the trauma, but the damage suffered by this small town in western Maine is fatal. The residential areas in the east of the town are still the same, and the two hundred-year-old oak trees still stand gracefully. The beautiful slope-topped buildings and pasture-style bungalows on Morin Street and Brickyad Hill are neat and tidy. But adjacent to this New England pastoral scenery is the charred and broken downtown area. The front lawns of many neat houses have "sell" signs. Only the black veil hanging on the door shows which houses are still inhabited. These days, the most common thing on Chamberlain Street is the United Moving Company's light yellow trucks and orange trailers of varying sizes.

The Chamberlain Dyeing and Weaving Factory, the main enterprise in the town, still exists. The fire that ravaged the town in the two days in May did not affect it. But it has only started one shift since June 4, and according to factory director William A. Chamberlis, it is very likely to be further reduced. "We have orders," Chamberlis said. "But you can't run a factory without workers to work. We don't have workers. Since August 15, I have received notices of 34 people preparing to leave. We can now see what we can do and only turn off the dye house and subcontract the work. We don't want to let the workers go, but this is related to economic survival."

Roger Faren has lived in Chamberlain for 22 years and worked in the dyeing workshop for 18 years. During this period, he went from a 70,000-30 per hour to a foreman; but he showed a strange indifference to his possible unemployment now. "I will lose a good income," Faren said. "It's not something you can easily accept. I have talked with my wife many times. We can sell the house - it's worth at least 20,000 yuan - although we may not even sell half of the money, we may still do it and sell it. It's nothing great. We really don't want to live in Chamberlain anymore. In any case, Chamberlain is no longer suitable for us."

It's not just Faren who thinks of this. Henry Klee is the owner of a fruit shop called Klee, which sells cigarettes and sodas. It was razed to the ground on the night of the ball, but he didn't want to rebuild it. "The kids are gone," he shrugged. "If I reopen, there must be ghosts here. I plan to take the insurance and retire to St. Petersburg."

In 1954, a hurricane caused huge casualties and losses to the city of Worcester. But a week later, the sound of hammers was ringing everywhere, and the air was filled with the fragrance of new wood, and an optimistic and human vitality. Chamberlain this fall was completely different. The rubble on the main street has been cleared, but that's all. The faces of the people you meet are filled with numbness of despair. Men drink beer without saying a word at the Frank bar on the corner of Sullivan Street, while women talk about each other's sorrow and losses in the backyard. Chamberlain has been declared a disaster area, and the government has provided funds to help rebuild the town and has begun to rebuild the commercial area.

But Chamberlain's main business in the past four months has been funerals.

440 people are now known to die, and 18 are missing. 67 of the dead are senior students of Eun High School, who are about to graduate. Perhaps this is more distraught than any other reason.

The students were buried during the Lanci public memorial held on June 1 and 2. The memorial service was held in the town square on June 3. This was the most touching ceremony I had seen. Thousands of attendees were present. When the school band, which had originally 56 people reduced to less than 40, was silent.

A week later, a dull graduation ceremony was held at the neighboring Morton College, and only 52 students survived to graduate. Henry Steenpel, who said goodbye to the graduation, burst into tears and could not help himself. There was no graduation party after the ceremony; the graduates got their certificates and went straight home.

As summer passes, more bodies are found, so the hearse is still running. For some residents, the scars are uncovered every day and the wounds are constantly bleeding.

If you were one of the many curiosers who roamed Chamberlain last week, you saw a town with incurable mental illness. Several devastated people walked around the aisle of chain stores. The Congregational Church on Carlin Street was gone and burned by fire. But the brick-structured Catholic Church still stood on Elm Street. The beautiful Methodist Church on the outside of Main Street was not damaged despite being burned by fire. However, there were very few people going to the church. The old man still sat on the bench in the Court Square, but lost interest in playing chess and even talking.

The general impression of people is that this is a town waiting to die. In these days, it is not enough to say that Chamberlain will never reappear. It is closer to the truth that Chamberlain will never exist any longer.

Excerpted from the letter from Principal Henry Greer to Director of Education Peter Philport, June 9:

... So I feel that I can no longer continue to hold my current position because I always feel that if I have a more vision, such a tragedy can be avoided. If you and your colleagues agree, I hope you can accept that I will resign from my current position from July 1st

...

Excerpted from a letter written by the physical education teacher, Miss Rita Desgarten to Principal Henry Greer on June 11:

...Now I will return my offer to you. I think if I continue to teach, I will kill myself. When the night is late, I always think: If I could reach out to help that girl, if...if...

Before the foundation of the White house, the lawn was painted:

Kelly White burned in flames for her sins Christ will not sit idly

Quoted from "Psychological Actuation: Analysis and Consequences" by Dean D.L. McGiffin (Published in the 2014 Science Yearbook):

As a conclusion, I would like to point out that the authorities' use of bureaucratic practices - I specifically refer to the so-called White Committee - to cover up the Kelly White incident is like playing with fire.

Politicians seem to want to regard TK as a once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon. Although this desire is understandable, it is unacceptable. From a genetic point of view, the chance of happening again is 99%. Now is the time for us to prepare for the future...

Quoted from John R. Combs' "Slang Explanation: A Guide to Parents" (Published by New York Lighthouse Press in 2014) page 73:

Deceive Kelly: cause violence or destruction; hurt; chaos; (2) arson (from Kelly White)

Quoted from "The Potential of Explosion" page 201:

The above article of this book mentioned that in a notebook by Kelly White, there is a page that repeatedly copied a poem by Bob Dylan, a famous rock poet of the 1960s. She seemed to have copied it in despair.

Then it would not be inappropriate to end the book with a few words from another song by Bob Dylan. These words may be used as Kelly's epitaph: I hope to write a plain melody for you/It can save you, my dear lady, don't go crazy/It can make you relax, calm/Stop the pain caused by your useless and meaningless knowledge...*
