Chapter 179 Attack
"Woo..." With the roar of the helicopter's propeller, the cross helicopters flew towards the military targets in the dark.
We were originally on the actual separation line between the two armies of China and Vietnam, so we flew over the Vietnamese troops in less than a minute. It is obvious that the Vietnamese army had no defense at all against our helicopters, which can be seen from the fact that we had not encountered resistance from the Vietnamese army after flying across the border for a while.
It should be said that the Vietnamese army is still experienced in this way of attacking using helicopters, because they suffered a lot from the US military in this regard just three years ago. But once and for a while, most of the US military launched attacks with helicopters in the daytime attacks (it is no secret that the US military has natural fear of night wars. It was like this when it was the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, and the subsequent war against Vietnam was the same, not to mention that they were the Vietnamese army who knew the terrain well). But now we are in a very low visibility night, which is exactly the saying that we only hear the sound of the helicopters, so although the Vietnamese army heard the sound of the helicopters, they could not see where we were.
More importantly... the Vietnamese army has received military assistance from our country for many years, and China has selflessly given priority to the Vietnamese army's most advanced weapons and equipment. Therefore, the Vietnamese army is also very clear about the equipment status of our army. They also know that helicopters like our army's Z5 are actually not suitable for large-scale combat, so they have no precautions against our army's helicopters from beginning to end.
But what they didn't expect was that on the battlefield, the more impossible things are, the more likely they are to happen. Just like now, we not only put the 5th into battle, but also play a big role in the battlefield.
However, the Vietnamese army is worthy of being a well-trained unit. Soon, more than a dozen searchlight columns shot into the sky like sharp swords, and then waved wildly in the air. Occasionally, a helicopter would entangle the helicopter like a deadly rope. Then there was the Vietnamese army's rifle and machine guns to attack...
However, we have been prepared for all this. There are 20 members of the shooting team in the special reconnaissance brigade, and each helicopter is assigned two. During normal training, they practice shooting searchlights on the ground through shooting holes on both sides of the straight 5 on the flying helicopter. This is the time for them to play. So with my order, the members of the shooting team aimed at the searchlights below and pulled the trigger.
It is not so easy to hit the searchlight on the ground on a moving helicopter in the air. Just as the high school physics teacher said that the movement of objects is relatively relative, it also requires the advance measurement. Moreover, because the soldiers are on the bumpy and shaking helicopter, it is even more difficult.
Fortunately, the soldiers were very hard to train. At this time, only a few gunshots were heard, and white smoke was seen on the searchlights on the ground one after another, and the light columns emitted by them disappeared. Only the light of bullets brought by the Vietnamese army when they were randomly shooting were left in the sky.
At this time, the artillery troops who were responsible for covering our army's breakthrough through the Vietnamese defense line also showed their power. With the sound of roaring from the ground, there were balls of fire rising from below. The airflow from the artillery fire caused the helicopter to start to vibrate violently, and the aircraft quickly pulled the helicopter high.
This is the first time we are watching the bombardment scene in the air. This feeling is very strange, because we can't help but flash a few scenes of ourselves being bombarded, thinking about the smoke and dust flying everywhere, thinking about finding suitable shelter everywhere, thinking about the corpse of our comrades being lifted into the air.
Although all this is right in front of us, it is so far away from us. What we feel even more unacceptable is... Looking down from the air and watching the Vietnamese troops fall and run one by one in the artillery fire, we have an illusion that they are just insignificant ants...
I think this is also why people feel more terrifying when fighting bayonets! The closer we are to our opponent, the more real we feel. The feeling of the blade entering the flesh, the blood of the enemy, the screams and painful expressions are all alive in front of us. Who wouldn't be afraid? However, once it's as far away as ours, it feels a bit like watching a movie!
This reminds me of a documentary in modern times, which describes the scene of a U.S. military pilot flying a helicopter while listening to excited music while controlling machine guns, rockets and missiles firing wildly at the Viet Cong below.
At that time, I was also frightened by the US military pilot's behavior of treating human life as a joke, but now I have understood to some extent. When we stand at another height or angle on the battlefield, when we no longer experience the breath of death, or when we grasp a comprehensive advantage on the battlefield, war is likely to evolve into a game.
In other words, anyone who was replaced by the US pilot and flying an advanced armed helicopter facing a group of enemies with no resistance might do the same. This may be the crazy and evil side of human nature!
As I guessed, the Vietnamese army distributed most of its forces on the frontier line, so a few minutes later when we crossed the Vietnamese defense zone stationed on the border, there would be no more Vietnamese searchlights and machine guns harassment.
"The target is ahead!" Wang Yunming, who was flying the helicopter more than ten minutes later, turned around and shouted at me. Because of the helicopter noise, he almost used all his strength to yell at me.
In fact, the Vietnamese army's artillery position is not so far from the border. In the past ten minutes, the fake moves made by the Vietnamese army on the flight route were included. The purpose was to prevent the Vietnamese army from guessing our military target from our flight route and prepare in advance. However, it still surprised me to reach the target in such a short time, because I felt that my butt was not hot on the helicopter!
But no matter how much I thought about it, I didn't dare to be negligent in my movements. I shouted at the soldiers to the mini walkie-talkie on my lips: "Be prepared for battle!"
With a "wow...", the soldiers pulled the guns neatly.
“Activate mines!”
"Open the bullet port..."
With my order, the bomb drop port under the helicopter was quickly pulled open.
With a "huh", the storm of wind that rushed up from the bomb dropping mouth instantly filled the entire cabin. The force of the wind was so strong that the soldiers and I and I could not help but shake. However, in this case, the soldiers and I had experienced too much in our daily training. We are no longer surprised at this moment, so we quickly stabilized our bodies.
At this time, the helicopter's speed slowed down, and then Wang Yunming shouted at us: "Drop bomb!"
The soldiers didn't know what to do at this time, and threw the activated mines in their hands along the bomb port into the darkness below.
Although it was still pitch black below and nothing could be seen, I could imagine the scene of a thousand helicopters flying in line on the highway, and then dropping mines onto the highway like laying eggs. Each person had three mines, and more than 300 people were more than 100 people. On this road that was only more than three miles long, there were more than 100 per mile. Although this density was not high, it could undoubtedly hold back the pace of the Vietnamese motorized troops.
Several of these mines happened to explode due to the impact on the ground, which undoubtedly sounded the alarm for the Vietnamese army, and sporadic gunshots sounded quickly below. There were no searchlights and no surface-to-air missiles, so I knew that the fake actions of the helicopter had deceived the Vietnamese army, or that the Vietnamese army had no time to prepare in such a short time.
So everything was too late, and the helicopters quickly went straight to their respective targets as planned. Two flew to Height 303 and two flew to Height 217. They will each deal with the enemies of a platoon stationed in these two high grounds. Eleven people dealt with more than 30 Vietnamese troops, which sounds a bit difficult, but I believe that the trained soldiers can complete the task well. After all, we have several advantages for the Vietnamese army. One is to attack them unpreparedly, the other is that each of our team is equipped with excellent members of the shooting team, and the third is that there is very good communication between the members. These can undoubtedly play an amazing role in this dark night.
The other six frames were divided into two parts, one in front and one behind, occupying two exits of the Vietnamese artillery position. Needless to say, their mission was to attack the Vietnamese artillery position located in the Shanwa from both sides. I belonged to the army attacking from the east. Of course, the reason why I could still figure out that I was in the east at this time was entirely because the plan was written like this.
If we just look at the comparison of troops, the enemy we have to deal with can be said to be even more scary. Sixty-six people have to deal with a Vietnamese artillery battalion...
However, I was not worried too much. The artillery troops were trained more to operate artillery. As for the offensive and defensive battles on infantry... they were always protected objects, so even if there were too many people, it would be useless.
"Dadadada..." The machine guns on the helicopter that began to roar at the enemy were firstly installed. As we had planned, both outlets of the 5 were loaded with machine guns. The machine gun at the rear of the cabin was still a 12.75mm anti-aircraft machine gun. As soon as the hatch opened, it ruthlessly fired rows of bullets at the Vietnamese army below, and instantly it made the Vietnamese army below scream.
