Chapter 172 Training
Since the soldiers have such a strong mentality and are unwilling to be eliminated, what else can I worry about? A battalion troops given by Liu Shunyi just gave me a lot of room for elimination. So my work quickly turned into trying every means to kick out those unqualified soldiers.
I remember a sculptor once said that creating a sculpture is just to remove the useless parts. I think this sentence is also suitable for me and for my troops.
Considering that the unit I have not undergone systematic combat and tactical training, my training is meticulously starting from the basics. After all, I don’t want the special reconnaissance brigade in my hands to not even be able to fight an ordinary battle when it goes to the battlefield in the future.
In the first month, we were training physical fitness, searching, alerting, infiltration, ambushing, surprise attacks, breaking through, building defense, attacking, shooting, climbing, coordination, etc. The training time is as high as fourteen hours a day, and I really did what I said before, except eating, sleeping and shit. And I often would suddenly be pulled out of the bed and walked onto the training ground halfway through sleep.
Actually, I don’t want to do this. Why are the soldiers tired? What’s even more painful is that I hold the power of life and death in my hands, that is, I can practice if I want to practice, and I can be lazy if I don’t want to practice. So every time I have to pull the soldiers to the training ground, I have to go through a painful ideological struggle, and sometimes I even think... I’m so tired, so I’d better take a little longer! Anyway, no one is forcing me!
But when I think of those comrades who died on the battlefield, their long sleep in foreign lands forever, and the soldiers under my command are likely to become one of them... I will jump out of the bed and shout at the soldiers: "Get together!"
At this time, the soldiers always jumped up from the bed with conditioned reflex. Before they could open their eyes, they had already started to organize their equipment. Then within a few minutes, they lined up in line and stood in front of me, including a total of 15 female soldiers including Liu Yun, Yichen and others.
What surprised me was that I thought that after a month of such training, many soldiers would withdraw due to failure or unable to bear such suffering, etc., but in this month, only more than seventy soldiers were eliminated. Except for a few of them, because their physical fitness really could not stand such high-intensity training, most of them were because they could not learn Vietnamese...
By the way, we do not mean that we can understand or speak. Our goal is to be able to talk to the Vietnamese army without letting the other party find something different, so we must learn Vietnamese very well, and sometimes we must deliberately learn some Vietnamese tone.
For such training, Li Shuibo and Hu Shaowen, some soldiers who originally knew Vietnamese, were naturally in a state of vain. Not only did they not have to learn it, they naturally acted as teachers of Vietnamese... These are not difficult for me, who originally learned foreign languages and had mastered several foreign languages. However, for some soldiers, it was really difficult for them. When they talked about Vietnamese, they didn't say anything, and the Vietnamese actually had a strong local accent...
Although they had already worked hard to learn, they had no choice but to learn similar things, so in the end they could only leave our team with dejected look under the soldiers' eyes.
As for the more than a dozen female soldiers... I have to admit that I did intentionally eliminate them, but what is helpless is that Liu Shunyi was afraid that the female soldiers were insecurity on the battlefield, so these fifteen female soldiers, including Liu Yun and Ariel Chen, were of good physical fitness. More importantly, they discovered a very strange phenomenon, that is, when there were female soldiers accompanying them to train together, the soldiers were very excited and could endure harder!
Think about it, too! Which man would look like a grandson in front of a woman? As the saying goes, a man and a woman are not tired of working together? It is precisely because of this reason that they are not at the point of being eliminated, so I barely allowed them to stay, thinking that as long as they can stand it, it is not a bad thing to train more, so I try to let them go to the battlefield to take on dangerous tasks as little as possible in the future.
In the organization of the troops, I had my own selfishness, because I retained the structure of the Second Battalion and added other soldiers. The company commander of the Fifth Company and the Sixth Company was Li Zhifu and his hometown, and only the company commander of the Fourth Company was a soldier named Zhang Ziwang.
The reason why I let him serve as the company commander of the Fourth Company was because Zhang Ziwang was a battalion commander when he was in the original army. I have read his files. His main record was that he was attacked by the Vietnamese guerrillas on the way to retreat and could bring back the entire battalion.
This doesn't sound like a big deal. We are a regular army in the same battalion. It is normal for the guerrillas who can escape unscathed. However, after having similar experiences, I know that this is not as simple as it seems.
First of all, the quality of the Vietnamese guerrillas is not worse than that of the regular army. Secondly, although our army is a regular army, its quality may not be good because it is mostly new recruits. In addition, everyone is thinking of retreating in their hearts... Therefore, when they are attacked, it is easy to cause chaos in their own retreat. However, Zhang Ziwang was able to organize this army and bring them out, which is enough to reflect his extraordinary organizational ability and command ability.
In addition... I also had some excuses to avoid being "friends", so Zhang Ziwang became the company commander of the Fourth Company.
Later I realized that my worry was completely unnecessary, because after the soldiers knew that we were the second battalion of Heroes, they were proud to be able to join the second battalion, so how could there be any resistance?
In the shooting team, I transferred more than a dozen warriors with gunshot skills from the troops to supplement it, and the surviving shooting team members formed a shooting team with twenty members, led by Li Shuibo.
They uniformly equipped Su-style SVD rifles, and usually train with other soldiers. When conducting tactical exercises such as search, alert, and attack, they would hide in the grass, hold sniper rifles through the scope to act as the eyes and ears of the soldiers, and report the latest enemy situation to their comrades through mini-radio.
What I have to be particularly concerned about here is that when special forces perform tasks, they must maintain a high degree of coordination among the troops. This coordination is inseparable from normal training and tacit understanding on the battlefield. However, with the current technology of our country, it is impossible to achieve the point where radio can be hidden in a helmet and worn on the head. However, after I, Political Commissar Yang, made this request, I quickly received a positive answer and equipped us with a piece of equipment a week later.
At first I was still surprised, but after seeing a few English letters on the miniature radio, I quickly understood that these things were not produced by us, but provided by the Americans. I thought it was funny. It was just over thirty years ago when we were fighting and dying on the Korean battlefield with the Americans, but in the blink of an eye... we became allies again, and the Americans generously provided us with advanced equipment and technology...
But what if he doesn’t matter! For us soldiers, we don’t need to pay attention to the grievances of the senior management. As long as we can defeat the enemy in front of us, we will do so, no matter where its equipment comes from!
Speaking of which, once this micro radio is equipped into the army in my hands, it will be much more convenient. During training, I can directly command every soldier, and even point out what mistakes have been made and what should I do.
"Captain Cui!" When we returned from training that day, when the soldiers were so tired that they didn't even have the strength to eat, Lin Xue walked to me and said, "The soldiers' training progress is very fast and have achieved the expected results. We can start the coordinated training of helicopters tomorrow!"
"Um!" I was stunned when I heard this.
It’s okay to say about these trainings. During the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, I was at least in the advanced school for a while. In addition, I have also been tested in actual combat, so when the soldiers were conducting these trainings, I could still hold a trumpet and shout at the soldiers next to me.
However, I was not so happy when I was conducting training subjects for collaborative combat with helicopters. After all, I was very unfamiliar with these subjects and had no experience like soldiers. So when I was training in these subjects, I not only supervised the training of soldiers, but also participated in it myself.
"Are Captain Wang ready?" I asked casually.
Captain Wang is named Wang Yunming. He is the captain of the Helicopter Flight Team. He is in his thirties this year and is a very experienced pilot. It is said that he is the first helicopter pilot in our army. I know that the first type of helicopter in my country was mass-produced in 1963, which means... he has almost 16 years of flying experience.
"Everything is ready!" Lin Xue nodded: "I have asked Captain Wang just now that they have done a comprehensive overhaul of the helicopter and made necessary modifications as required, and are waiting for the day to meet the soldiers."
"Okay!" I nodded, sat on the ground and leaned my tired body against the tree, and replied weakly: "Then start tomorrow. You can show me tomorrow's training plan later!"
"Yeah!" Lin Xue looked at me with a complicated expression, opened her mouth and wanted to say something, but in the end she didn't say it. Finally, she just sighed and left.
